For most design professionals the subject of money is uncomfortable. Without even being aware of it, we frequently give off some unusual signals when the subject of how we earn a living is broached. How do we do that? Well, it can be subtle or more overt.

As with our hourly fees, the key to managing designer trade discounts is transparency. The client expects to pay a reasonable fee for purchases. They are also aware of the general concept of designer discounts.

While there is no set standard for dealing with designer discounts, there are some practices that occur regularly. So in this course, we’ll look at those.
