TERMS | About Your BOD™ BOSS Group*

Please read and agree to the following terms by checking each box.

BOD™ BOSS Group participation requires commitment. Following the onboarding process, individual members commit annually to BOD™ Boss Membership. Experience shows that connection, motivation and results grow with time and these friendships will last a lifetime. Trust us.
BOD™ BOSS Group members are selected by Team BOD™, after a thorough vetting process. Members will be given an opportunity to review the personal profiles of their fellow BOSS group members, prior to group launch or the onboarding of new group members.
BOD™ BOSS Groups will vary in size, based on qualifications and availability of perspective members. No group will have fewer than 6 or more than 12 members at its inception, and Team BOD™ will provide new qualified group members as needed.
BOD™ BOSS Group members have various sized firms and years of experience, but these elements alone are not a determining factor to BOSS membership. What matters most is ambition, drive, and a deep desire for success.
BOD™ BOSS Group members will gain access to an exclusive BOD™ BOSS section on the website that includes the annual meeting key dates schedule and, reference copies of the Terms & Principles, Confidentiality Agreement, and Leadership Positions.

TERMS | About Your BOD™ BOSS Meetings*

Please read and agree to the following terms by checking each box.

BOD™ BOSS Groups will meet twice a year. Meetings are ideally held in person, but your group has the option to meet virtually as circumstances dictate. After the initial launch meeting, subsequent meeting dates and locations will be determined by the group.
BOD™ BOSS Groups will launch with an in-person meeting (when possible), hosted by Team BOD™, and follow a strategic 3-day agenda. Subsequent meetings will follow this same agenda with the option to extend the meeting by unanimous consent. All meeting activities and elements are exclusive to BOD™ BOSS Group members.
BOD™ BOSS Group meeting two is attended by Team BOD™ (in-person or remotely) in a transitory, advisory role. Your Team BOD™ CFO attends the first and second meeting (remotely), in order to provide financial feedback and direction to the group. The group has the option to continue working with the BOD™ CFO on a per meeting basis and fee.
BOD™ BOSS Group members that are onboarded following the initial launch year will receive a copy of the prior meeting’s Member Update Summary and participate a financial session with BOD™ CFO to get up to speed and ready to prepare their own financial report for their first meeting.
BOD™ BOSS Group meetings, following the initial launch meeting, will be organized, and hosted by individual BOD™ BOSS Group members.
BOD™ BOSS Groups follow a pre-determined, structured meeting format, provided by Business of Design®. Time will be allotted for groups to customize a portion of the meeting for professional growth opportunities such as keynote speakers, home tours or learning labs.
BOD™ BOSS Groups meeting attendance is mandatory, and members may not send a substitute to attend in their place. Two unexcused absences may result in dismissal, at the group’s discretion.
BOD™ BOSS Groups are comprised of an international audience. Members are expected to travel twice per year to meet with their BOD™ Group. Please maintain your passport and be ready to travel. It’s part of the experience.
BOD™ BOSS Group members are responsible for their own expenses for in-person meetings, including costs for travel, accommodations and incidentals. Expenses will vary depending on meeting location and itinerary.

TERMS | Your BOD™ BOSS Group Commitment*

BOD™ BOSS Groups will elect and rotate the leadership roles of President, Vice President, Meeting Chair, Co-Chair and Treasurer in order to create equity and share the workload. The President manages group affairs and acts as a liaison with Business of Design®. The Vice President acts in a supportive role, and will assume the role President after year one. The Chair and Co-Chair are meeting hosts—managing logistics such as meeting location, venue, accommodations, activities, speakers, and meals. Any member is able to assist the chair with these duties, as required. The Treasurer collects funds from group members and distributes them as required.
BOD™ BOSS Group members are required to complete a mandatory BOD™ BOSS Update bi-annually, in advance of the upcoming meeting. The completed BOSS Update will ask for personal business information such as profit & loss statement data (mandatory for year 1) and must be submitted to Team BOD™ by the due date, 4 weeks prior to the upcoming meeting.
BOD™ BOSS Groups will receive a compilation of the financial data provided by individual members, for the purposes of learning and planning. Financial information is provided to the group, with members’ names excluded for anonymity. All information acquired by Team BOD™ is held in the strictest confidence.
BOD™ BOSS Group members are required to actively participate in each meeting by sharing candidly and generously, withholding nothing. Total transparency is essential for maximum growth and development.

PRINCIPLES*

ONE | BOD™ BOSS Groups are a fulfilment of the Business of Design® mission to transform the industry, one designer at a time, through business training and education.
TWO | BOD™ BOSS Groups are a vital part of the Business of Design® community. Each participating member is responsible for protecting the health of the BOD™ BOSS Group and Business of Design® as a whole. Personal growth is accelerated by unity.
THREE | BOD™ BOSS Group members are expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times. Members practice self-awareness, respect and diplomacy with one another. No one member has all the answers, and everyone has something valuable to add.
FOUR | BOD™ BOSS Groups must be financially independent, supported only by participating BOD™ BOSS Group members. Solicitation of funds or partnerships for profit using the Business of Design® or BOD™ name or brand is forbidden. It is, however, acceptable to partner with a supplier or showroom to provide group meeting space, relevant content or incidentals.
FIVE | To protect Business of Design® and its members from controversy, no BOD™ BOSS Group or member should express any opinion on outside issues, that implicates Business of Design® in any way. Outside issues include, but are not limited to, politics, religion, race and sexual orientation. Social media, written materials and information shared publicly must always uphold the standards outlined in the BOD™ BOSS Group | Terms & Principles.
SIX | All rights to the Business of Design® name, branding and proprietary materials are the sole property of Business of Design® and they shall not be shared outside the group. A BOD™ BOSS Group or member may not endorse, finance or lend the Business of Design® name to any related or outside enterprise.
SEVEN | Confidentiality is a sacred part of the BOD™ BOSS Group meeting experience, fostering optimum growth and development for members. Experience has shown us, we are more likely to succeed when we are able share candidly and safely with one another. Gossip has no place in our community.
EIGHT | BOD™ BOSS Groups are governed by Business of Design® and BOD™ BOSS Group Terms & Principles must be adhered to by all. If at any time a BOD™ BOSS Group member is concerned that these terms and principles are being violated, please share your concerns with Business of Design® directly.

The BOD™ BOSS Fees Schedule is:*

BOD™ BOSS is an annual membership fee that includes both your BOD™ Membership + BOD™ BOSS Group participation. All in one.

GROUP ONBOARDING FEE | $2,500 due upon acceptance of these Terms & Principles. This fee covers expenses related to your onboarding process including your inaugural meeting and two financial sessions with BOD™ CFO.
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP | $3,290 due in August, prior to your first meeting, and renews annually. At the time of your initial BOSS Membership payment, your BOD™ Membership (which is included in BOSS) will be cancelled and the balance of your term refunded.

GROUP PLACEMENT*

Team BOD™ accepts applications on an ongoing basis for new and existing BOD™ BOSS Groups. Receipt of an acceptance letter does not guarantee your spot in a group. BOD™ BOSS Group spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis, based on receipt of signed Terms & Principles and the Group Onboarding Fee.
