January 4, 2022

Listen Now

If you’ve been working with residential clients for any length of time, it’s likely you’ve thought to yourself that this work would be perfect, if only I didn’t have to deal with clients! Well, working with builders and developers does allow you to sidestep the immediate desires of the end consumer, however, you still have a client…the builder. Business of Design® member and podcast host, Crystal Collinson shares the ins and outs of this specific niche of interior design and decorating.

In this episode we learn:

  • tight budgets and timelines are unavoidable
  • networking allows you to make connections with the right builders
  • although there isn’t an end-user customer, there is a client—the builder
  • the builder sales/presentation center is actually “retail interior design”

DESIGN INTERVENTION

Design should solve problems, not create them. Our job is to solve a problem for our clients, and when something does not go as planned.
