Meet Veronica, aka The Naked Decorator, a member of Business of Design and Kimberley’s first guest on our inaugural podcast episode.

Veronica Solomon is an award-winning interior designer whose work has been featured in numerous publications including The ASID Texas Gulf Coast Chapter magazine, Houston House & Home magazine, Katy magazine, and national blogs such as Apartment Therapy. She has been named as one of The Top Ten Emerging Designers To Watch By Black Interior Designers Network.

She has established herself as one of Katy/West Houston’s most highly acclaimed interior designers and lifestyle experts. She has created unique and memorable interiors for a wide variety of residential, homebuilding and commercial clients over her 10-year career.

She is the region’s only designer who practices the art of creating luxurious and fresh, yet practical interiors for a busy family to live in and enjoy. Veronica provides her clients with distinctive, cutting-edge furnishings that are not readily available at retail stores. She travels across the nation and internationally to major furnishings markets to obtain the most unique and innovative furniture and accessories, while keeping up-to-date on the latest trends.

Veronica’s services can be summed up as full service and turn-key, making the design process fun and enjoyable for her clients. Her clientele includes, busy professionals, CEOs and entrepreneurs in the affluent areas of West Houston such as Cinco Ranch, Sugarland, West University, River Oaks, The Heights, and other areas, but she is most passionate about helping busy families achieve everyday luxury and practicality in their homes. Her local design workshops and events are a testament to her giving spirit and passion for helping everyday homeowners and DIY-ers achieve practical luxury in their homes.

A member of the American Society of Interior Designers and co-chair of the 2017 Show House Committee, Interior Design Society and The Greater Houston Builders Association, Veronica has served several hundred clients over her career. She developed long-term relationships with many of them, often working on multiple projects with the same client over a period of many years. Much of her new business results from referrals from satisfied clients.

Veronica who is certified by C.I.D., also specializes in designing custom soft furnishings and custom furniture pieces to bring the unique and unexpected to each of the homes she designs. She generously shares her design insights and expertise in presentations to a variety of local groups, as well as through her design and lifestyle blog “The Naked Decorator.”

She has assembled a design team comprised of some of the area’s leading building designers, general contractors, painters, plumbers, electricians, wallpaper installers, home theater specialists, cabinetmakers, faux finishers, and artists. This team approach assures that each client enjoys a pleasant and stress-free experience while enjoying the benefits of dealing with some of the most skilled and reputable professionals in the industry.

Veronica is a mother of two amazing children and a feisty chiweenie named Rufus. Her Jamaican heritage of staying grounded, hard working and dedicated to her craft, not only shows in some of her colorful interiors, but allows her to service her clients with an intentional system of satisfaction by design. She is a mentor to young designers and design students about to embark on entrepreneurship in the design industry.

Veronica is actively involved in local charitable organizations such as The Houston Furniture Bank D.I.V.A.S., whose mission is to turn empty houses into homes for deserving families, and The Solomon Project that provides a beautiful and comfortable space for a deserving young mom to bring her baby home to nurse and nurture.
